Juanita Barrera Minnick, 57, of Lubbock, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Juanita grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. She then went on to earn multiple degrees including her MBA from Wayland Baptist University. During her professional career, Juanita served in multiple roles at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the last ten years. Juanita Barrera Minnick, 57, of Lubbock, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Juanita grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. She then went on to earn multiple degrees including her MBA from Wayland Baptist University. During her professional career, Juanita served in multiple roles at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the last ten years. Her roles included Senior Clinical Administrator for the OBGYN and Neurology Departments, Administrator for the Family & Community Medicine Department as well as Assistant Managing Director for the School of Medicine Administration. Before her time at TTUHSC, she spent sixteen years as the Director of the Lubbock Cancer Center. Juanita is remembered as a dedicated mother, tenacious sister, loving aunt, devoted grandmother, and caring colleague.

She is cherished by both parents, Jesus and Guadalupe Barrera, of Plainview, as well as her sons, Jarod Gonzales with wife Courtney of Midland, Justin Betancur with wife Emily of Odessa, and daughter Peyton Minnick of Lubbock. She is celebrated by her sister Rosa Lees with fiancÚ Shawn McCarty, brother Jess Barrera, brother Martin Barrera with wife Rachelle as well as uncle Isidro Gomez with wife Linda and cousin Isidro Gomez II. Juanita was blessed to be Mimi to six grandchildren Travis, Brandon, Ashton, Liliana Mae, Brayden, and Alayna, Goddaughter and niece Amber, who willingly and graciously served Juanita during the many trials she faced as she fought her battle, nieces Addie, Jacei, and Maddy, nephews Dillon with wife Melody, Jess with wife Kim, Kagan, and Jayden, along with four great nieces and nephews.

She was met in Heaven by her youngest brother, Gabino "Gabby" Barrera, as well as her grandparents, Doroteo and Paulita Gomez.

Services for Juanita include a visitation from 6-7pm and Rosary from 7-8pm Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Her celebration of life will be held at 1pm at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 with graveside immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery.
